Festivals and Special Events

THINGS TO DO:

Festivals & Special Events

Albertans' love of the outdoors is equaled only by their love of a good gathering, which means plenty of outdoor festivities. Our capital city of Edmonton is so famous for festivals it's known across Canada as the Festival City - and no wonder, with more than 30 to choose from throughout the year. Most well known are the Edmonton Folk Fest, the International Fringe Theatre Festival, and the marvelously eclectic International Street Performers Festival.

One of our most special events is the much-beloved Calgary Stampede. For more than 100 years, visitors from near and far have come to immerse themselves in our western culture and heritage. This is a Wild West extravaganza you don't want to miss.

Be sure to step out around the province and catch some great live music at local folk, blues, jazz, and country festivals. Big Valley Jamboree is the biggest country music festival on the continent. Feeling classically inclined? Try Shakespeare in the Park. Hungry? Check out the Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival or a salsa block party. Our celebrations are designed to delight merrymakers of every age. From blooming flowers to the onset of winter, any excuse for a festival will do.

OUR VISITORS SAY:

"Big Valley Jamboree is without a doubt the best outdoor country music festival in the universe - 85,000 fans can't be wrong!" ~ B. Winslow, Arizona
