Nestled in the company of towering peaks and montane meadows of Banff National Park, Shadow Lake Lodge is a 14km hike, ski, or snowshoe from the trailhead. Cabins, hot showers and homey communal spaces for your summer or winter getaway; an unforgettable backcountry experience. Owned previously by the Brewster family, Shadow Lake Lodge dates back to 1928 with the initial creation of the CPR cabin a retreat for workers and weary travellers. With the transition of ownership to the Alpine Club of Canada in 2019, the lodge has become an elevated facility for adventurers alike. The 12 cozy cabins offer privacy and the chance to relax after a day of hiking, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. (Mountain bikes are permitted on the Redearth trail, but only as far as the 10.5 km (6.5 mi) mark in the summer. You’ll have to lock your bike on the rack and hike the remaining distance to the lodge.)
