This trail climbs on an old fire road for 4.9 km before it crosses a meadow and reaches West Elk Pass. You can continue into British Columbia and the Elk Lakes Provincial Park (BC Parks). Elk Lakes headquarters and the Alpine Club of Canada's Elk Lakes Cabin are located 4.3 km from the Alberta/British Columbia border. Note that bikes are not permitted in Elk Lakes Provincial Park.
