This short hike is a Canmore classic, not to be missed on your trip to the Canadian Rockies. Choose from the easy route, which takes a gentle incline to the exquisite turquoise lakes, or the more challenging wooded trail that passes by a waterfall with beautiful views of Canmore and the Bow Valley. Either way, you’ll hike 4 km (2.5 mi). It’s genuinely a wonderful outing for family and friends. Due to its ease and beauty, the Grassi Lakes Trail one of Canmore’s most popular hikes. To avoid the crowds, plan to do it early in the morning or later in the evening. Relax along the way on benches, and take the time to read the signage about Lawrence Grassi, whose passion for the mountains prompted him to build the original trail here. Pause to take photos of the mountain climbers almost always on the cliffs. The Grassi Lakes Trailhead is about 6 km (4 mi) from Canmore.
