If you’re in Lethbridge during Canada Day or during the Rotary Dragon Boat Festival, just follow the crowds to Henderson Lake Park. The much-loved park is in the southwest part of the city and hosts these large events and more. Even when it’s not hosting a civic celebration, Henderson Lake Park is well worth a visit. A 2.5 km (1.5 mi) trail around the lake and a 4.5 km (2.5 mi) loop around the perimeter of the park are great ways to stretch your legs. The lake is ideal for kayaks, canoes and paddle boats. The boat launch and dock make it easy for anglers (non-motorized boats only) to get on the water in search of northern pike, perch, walleye and whitefish. The park is also home to the Demonstration and Rose Gardens, which are great places to wander and admire the blooms. Henderson Lake Park also borders a golf course, an outdoor pool, a tennis club and the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens.
