Alberta’s first major Métis cultural interpretive destination is a place for Métis people to celebrate and further their culture, but everyone is welcome. Métis Crossing sits beside the North Saskatchewan River on lots first settled in the late 1800s. Visitors can explore the Historical Village, which includes some of the original buildings. Métis interpreters are on hand to share stories, answer questions and even teach Métis crafts. Various experiences are available to deepen the visitor experience. In summer, you can paddle the North Saskatchewan River in a voyageur canoe, hone your archery skills or tour the buffalo paddock. A campground, sky-watching domes with transparent ceilings and a 40-room boutique luxury lodge make it easy to extend your stay. The restaurant offers Métis-inspired cuisine and storytelling sessions, which are a great way to end a busy day of learning and fun.
