The Canadian Death Race (CDR) is one of the toughest ultramarathons in the world, held annually in the Canadian Rockies. Racers face a 118-km course with 4543m (14,905 feet) of elevation change, passing over three mountain summits and crossing the Hell's Gate canyon. The race tests participants' limits in heat, cold, and altitude, requiring extreme endurance and mental strength. It has five legs, which can be completed solo or as part of a relay team. The Near Death Marathon (NDM) covers the first two legs of the full course, minus the Flood Summit Loop. Additionally, the Kids' Death Race (KDR), a 6-km event, brings the community together to support young athletes. CDR is a Western States Endurance Run and UTMB qualifier, as well as a Trail Sisters Approved event. The race has become a symbol of endurance, attracting athletes who seek to conquer the mountain terrain and claim the ultimate bragging rights.
