The exciting roots of the Ponoka Stampede and all the community hoopla date back to a two-day event in 1936 and has grown to become one of the top 10 rodeos worldwide featuring pro rodeo, chuckwagon races, concerts, midway, dances, parades and more. The best rodeo athletes in North America travel to the Ponoka Stampede to compete on the finest rodeo stock for over half a million dollars. The Ponoka Stampede is the largest CPRA-approved rodeo. The organization's mission is to preserve the Western heritage and values by providing and facilitating recreation and education for Alberta youth.
