All aboard for adventure! Alberta Prairie Railway Excursions offers passengers the chance to relax in vintage railway coaches while travelling through Alberta’s stunning prairies. The one-day adventures begin and end in Stettler, 80 km (50 mi) east of Red Deer. The trains are pulled by either steam or diesel locomotives and stop at either the Village of Big Valley with its restored 1912 railway station or Alberta Prairie’s Country Hideaway at Warden Junction, where you can enjoy hayrides and nature walks. And not to give too much away, but there is a good chance that trains will be halted and robbed by the outlaws known as Reynolds Raiders. A variety of excursions, including adults-only, country dinner and Father’s Day, are available. Whichever excursion you choose, you’ll find entertainment on board and at your destination.
