Alberta’s first provincial park is still at the top of many lists of places to go for year-round fun. The park is 40 km (25 mi) northwest of Red Deer, on the shores of Gull Lake. In the summertime, Ebeling Beach is a popular spot for families. The day-use area has a sandy beach that is ideal for soaking up the sun, building sand castles and swimming in the lake. Gull Lake is also great for water skiing, fishing, paddling and windsurfing. Cross-country skiers and snowshoers enjoy 8 km (5 mi) of groomed trails in winter. There is also a skating rink with lights, fire pits, picnic tables and benches. Two campgrounds provide a great base to explore the area from mid-May to September. Amenities include boat launches, showers, laundry facilities and playgrounds.
