Banff Ave Brewing Co. was founded in 2010, five years after its sister brewpub opened in Jasper. “The brewpub” has become a beer-culture hotbed and a central hub for locals and tourists alike. Childhood friends Brett Ireland, Socrates Korogonas, and Alex Derksen shared a passion for food and beer. With extensive experience in Jasper’s food and beverage industry, launching their first brewpub there was natural. Inspired by the town’s unique beer culture, they opened Jasper Brewing Company in 2005—the first brewpub in a Canadian national park. Their passion grew, leading to the launch of Banff Ave Brewing in 2010. Recognizing their success, they formed Bearhill Brewing Company in 2012. Expansion continued with Wood Buffalo Brewing (Fort McMurray, 2013) and Last Best Brewing & Distillery (Calgary, 2014). From one brewpub to a thriving brewery network, their vision continues to shape Alberta’s craft beer scene.
