Bergen Rocks offers a unique art experience in central Alberta, showcasing the beauty of a sculpture park. After participating in sculpture symposia abroad, artist Morton Burke envisioned hosting similar events in Canada. When no community in Alberta embraced his idea, he decided to create it himself on his acreage in Bergen. Despite the absence of the usual pomp and ceremony seen in other countries, the grassroots nature of his initiative attracted sculptors from around the world. The result is two international sculpture parks: one in Bergen and another in the Town of Olds. These parks feature monumental stone sculptures by artists from Vietnam, Germany, Thailand, India, China, Turkey, Korea, Mongolia, Iran, Ireland, Kenya, Cuba, Italy, and Canada. Located a short drive off the QE2 highway between Calgary and Edmonton, both venues are outdoors, allowing visitors to enjoy the fresh Alberta air while exploring remarkable works of art.
