Birchwood Trails is a network of serene, wooded trails in the heart of Fort McMurray. The asphalt, gravel, and natural trails offer many interconnected and winding routes for running, hiking, inline skating, and mountain biking in the summer, and cross-country skiing in the winter. The 130-kilometre network of urban park trails covers an area over 400 hectares. The outdoor gym conveniently running alongside Birchwood Trail lets you incorporate a more complete fitness routine. The equipment is set up in a dozen stations running from Cornwall Road to behind the Birchwood field and ending at Woodland Drive. Skiers will be pleased to know that the trails accommodate both classic and skate styles of cross-country skiing and that there are three official circuits of five, eight, and 13-kilometre loops. All pets must be leashed and fires are not permitted.
