Blood Indian Park is a campground about 130 km (80 mi) east of Drumheller and an excellent base for exploring Alberta’s grasslands. The campground has 37 serviced sites, plus another 300 ""random"" sites along the shoreline of Blood Indian Creek Reservoir. The term “random” means these unserviced sites are first-come, first-served. Visitors will find a beach, a ball diamond, horseshoe pits and a day-use area, and kids can enjoy the spray park, playground. Blood Indian Park is open year-round. From May to September, it has potable water and a store that stocks essentials. Power boats are allowed but must maintain strict speed limits, which keeps the water ideal for swimmers, paddlers and anglers. The latter can fish from the shore or floating docks. The reservoir is stocked with over 175,000 fingerling trout annually. Trails through the grasslands offer hiking and birdwatching possibilities.
