Visit and camp in a spectacular spot known for abundant wildlife. Carson-Pegasus Provincial Park preserves mixed-wood forests of trees such as aspen, balsam poplar, balsam fir and white spruce. That makes local mammals pretty happy, and they thrive. Mule deer, moose, black bear, coyote, and lynx all make their home in the park. Bird species also flock to the area, including water birds like loons, blue jays and black-capped chickadees. Carson-Pegasus Provincial Park is also a destination for fishing — it’s one of Alberta’s best areas for trout. In the winter, enjoy ice-fishing and snowshoeing. The campground is equipped with nearly 200 sites, with and without power. There are lakeside, RV and tent-only sites with trees offering privacy, plus a playground and beach nearby. You can find this treasure trove of natural beauty 27 km (17 mi) from Whitecourt.
