The Eaton Falls Trail in Willmore Wilderness Park is a picturesque, family-friendly hike that spans approximately 7.1 km (3 km each way) and takes about 2 ½ hours to complete. The trail begins at the Sulphur Gates Staging Area at the end of Sulphur Gates Road and features some challenging hills at the start. However, the trail is well-defined and follows a fire road-style path. After hiking for approximately 2 km, you'll come across a moose antler sign marking the trail junction to Eaton Falls. Follow the trail to the right, which leads to the final .06 km to the falls. The falls are deeply cut into loose, crumbly sedimentary rock, so it's essential to exercise caution and avoid venturing under the cliffs. The waterfall itself is a stunning sight, long and narrow through the rocky canyon. Many large rocks line the final few meters toward the base of the falls, making for slippery conditions. Use caution. If you plan to visit Willmore Wilderness Park, it's essential to keep in mind that grizzly and black bears inhabit the area; therefore, bring bear spray, and familiarize yourself with what to do if you encounter a bear. Take safety precautions, tell someone where you are headed and when you will be back, bring food, water and emergency supplies and make sure that food and garbage are stored properly and packed out when leaving the park.
