Fallentimber Meadery has been making a name in the Alberta cottage winery industry as passionate purveyors of homemade mead since 2010. The family-owned business uses honey from its very own bees to make the drink that’s believed to be the original alcoholic beverage. The Ryan family gives their bees access to many varieties of Alberta wildflowers and clovers, giving their mead a distinct flavour with every changing season. The meadery is located on the Ryan family’s farm in Water Valley, about an hour outside of Calgary, surrounded by public land forest for miles. You’ll find much more than just traditional mead. Fallentimber also offers unique specialty meads made with local fruits like Saskatoon berries and rhubarb. They also offer a fun take on the mojito, a citrusy sweet beverage they’ve named the meadjito – you’ll just have to stop in and try it for yourself!
