A significant historic site, Government House opened in 1913 and served as the official residence of Alberta’s first six Lieutenant Governor. Today, the site is used primarily for hosting government, vice-regal and state functions. It also welcomes the public for guided tours from May to November. Visitors can view Government House’s historic architectural details, original artifacts and furnishings dating from its time as a vice-regal residence, and an extensive art collection showcasing historic and contemporary Canadian artists. All tours are free and take approximately 30 to 45 minutes. No appointments are necessary
