When the barley for your beer is grown just down the road from your brewery, you know the beer is going to be good. The High River Brewing Company has set out to be as local as it gets. The purveyors are even grads of a local brewmaster program. With four beers and counting on tap, Kevin Guichon and Emily Guss are making a name for themselves as not just a brewery in High River, but High River’s brewery. It’s easy for locals and day-trippers to settle into the casual atmosphere of the taproom. Pull up a stool at the striking river-rock bar, sourced from the Highwood River, or play a board game. It’s all set against the backdrop of the gleaming stainless-steel tanks where the beer is made. No doubt you’ll leave a with crowler – a smaller version of the growler – a perfect excuse to make you come back for more.
