The Jasper Planetarium is easy to get to. The distant reaches of space, on the other hand, can be hard to believe. Visitors to the Jasper Planetarium get the best of both worlds. It’s conveniently located at the Jasper Park Lodge. The knowledgeable guides and powerful telescopes bring the heavens close enough to touch. It helps that Jasper is a dark sky preserve. The planetarium is located in a 38-seat dome. Inside, guides share stories about constellations, explain Indigenous beliefs around the stars and share images of the northern lights and show an astronaut’s view of the town of Jasper. The planetarium can be experienced on its own, or you can sign up for the planetarium and telescope package. The Jasper Planetarium also offers tours in which participants visit the planetarium, view the stars through the telescopes and then walk to a dark sky site to get a laser-guided tour of constellations and the chance to view the Milky Way through binoculars.
