This popular campground sits on Lake Newell 13 km (8 mi) south of Brooks. There are 199 sites available for RVs and tents (185 with power, 14 unserviced). Lake Newell is one of southern Alberta’s largest and warmest man-made lakes. The clear water is ideal for canoeing, sailing, fishing, swimming and power boating. Campers will also find beach volleyball, a playground, a concession and a boat launch. Kinbrook Island has modern facilities like showers, flush toilets and a laundromat. Away from the lake, a wetlands trail is popular with the bird watchers who flock to the area. The campground is a good base for those looking to make a day trip to the Brooks Aqueduct or Dinosaur Provincial Park. Add it all up, and it’s easy to see why Kinbrook Island Campground is so popular—and why reservations are highly recommended.
