The Canadian Pacific Railway built this must-visit spot in 1901 as a refuge for hikers. In 1905, they started serving fine tea. Tea on a mountaintop is a delight; here, you’ll find more than 100 fine teas. Delicious homemade soup and sandwiches on freshly baked bread are also available for hungry hikers. The Lake Agnes Tea House sits at an altitude of 2,135 m (7,005 ft), but getting there is not too difficult. It’s a scenic 3.5 km (2.2 mi) forested trail with frequent peeks at the turquoise waters below. You’ll find breathtaking views as you trek up 400 m (1,300 ft) of elevation. The views are the best excuse to pause to catch your breath. After over 100 years, the Lake Agnes Tea House still features the original building’s windows, tables and chairs, and the staff continues the tradition of welcoming outdoor enthusiasts from around the world. To get here, start at Chateau Lake Louise and follow the paved path on the lakeshore. Turn onto the trail at the sign for Lake Agnes.
