Many Chief Tours is an Indigenous-owned and operated business that operates in Calgary and Southern Alberta. They offer authentic Indigenous and eco-tourism experiences in and around Calgary that showcase the rich Indigenous culture and history of the region. Their First Nations guides look forward to sharing their culture through exploring the history of the land and sharing stories of their connection to the land. The Mohkinstsis (MOH-kin-stiss) Tour is an authentic Indigenous walking tour of St. Patrick’s Island that provides guests with the opportunity to learn about local Indigenous history through cultural sharing with a local Indigenous guide. During the tour they provide an introduction to Indigenous people in Canada, followed by an exploration into the lives of the Blackfoot people both before and after contact. Through this experience, they hope to share with their guests the story of how the Blackfoot people are resilient people that have overcome many barriers to once again thrive in their traditional territory. The tour provides guests with the opportunity to learn and connect with local Indigenous people in an outdoor nature setting that fosters learning and open dialogue. The tour is approximately 90 mins to 120 mins depending on the speed of the group. The trail is 2.5 km and is a combination of paved trails and gravel. They suggest warm clothes and comfortable footwear. During the tours, they maintain a physical distance of 2 meters or more and are in compliance with all COVID-19 guidelines as outlined by Alberta Health Services, Alberta Government, and City of Calgary.
