This cozy lodge pulls off a neat trick: it has all the charm, warmth and adventure of a backcountry lodge, but it’s easily accessible by car. The main lodge features common areas, large stone fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the surrounding meadow and mountains. The lodge is also home to the large, bright dining area where guests enjoy breakfast, afternoon high tea and gourmet dinners. Guests can also grab a packed lunch before heading out for a day of adventure. Try hiking, trail running, canoeing and fishing in spring, summer and fall. When winter comes, the area offers snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice fishing or dog sledding. There are a variety of accommodations, including suites in the lodge, cabins, glamping tents and even a yurt. You’ll find it all 38 km (24 mi) south of Canmore in Kananaskis Country.
