Portage College's Museum of Aboriginal Peoples' Art & Artifacts is home to the world's only permanent collection of artworks by the Professional Native Indian Artists Incorporated, a group commonly known as the Indian Group of Seven. The museum proudly displays both historic and modern pieces, including never-before-seen works by internationally known artists like Alex Janvier, Joseph Sanchez, Jane Ash Poitras, and Jason Carter, among many others. Exhibits highlight First Nations, Métis and Inuit culture, craftsmanship and history, allowing visitors to discover the stories behind traditional art forms like hide tanning, beading and quilling. The museum is located inside Portage College's Lac La Biche campus, and visitors can take self-guided tours or call ahead to arrange guided experiences. Unique workshops and demonstrations can be arranged, and visitors are welcome to purchase one-of-a-kind authentic masterpieces from the gallery store.
