This site in Waterton Lakes National Park is a feast for the eyes. First, there’s the drive to the upper parking lot, which snakes up the Blakiston Valley. The road offers mountain vistas, wildflowers and the chance to spot wildlife. Then there’s the easy, 20-minute hike from the parking lot on a paved trail to the canyon itself. The walk gives visitors more great scenery along the trail and time to take it all in and appreciate it. The trail loops around and across the colourful canyon, with its red, white and green rock. A sparkling stream on the canyon floor completes the picture. More adventurous hikers can descend along a trail to the stream. As a reward, soak your feet in the cool water before heading back up. The road to the canyon is open to vehicles from May to October and provides easy access to other hiking trails.
