This small campground lies in the heart of Cypress Hills Provincial Park, a stone’s throw from Reesor Lake. There are 40 campsites, including seven walk-in tenting sites with firepits. You’ll also find tap water, picnic tables, a picnic shelter, a playground and weekly interpretive programs. There’s a boat launch, but note that if your boat has a motor, it has to be electric. There’s room to roam on your mountain bike (electric or human-powered) or by foot on nearby hiking trails. Reesor Lake is a popular trout fishing reservoir named for David William Reesor, the son of Senator David Ressor, who settled in the area in 1900. The original ranch house still stands near the shore. The lake was originally two small, separate water bodies called Twin Lakes. In 1960, dam construction raised the water level to create a single lake. To find the Reesor Lake Campground, head 86 km (53 mi) southeast of Medicine Hat. If you need supplies while camping, Elkwater is just 22 km (14 km) away.
