Saddleback Trail is popular with hikers throughout the spring and summer. In the fall, however, the larch trees change colour, and the trail’s popularity only increases. Whenever you hit the Saddleback Trail, it offers dramatic views amid changing scenery. The hike begins on the shore of Lake Louise, just past the boathouse. Hikers leave the lake behind as they begin the climb up to Saddleback Pass. The elevation gain is 595 m (1,950 ft), so hikers should be prepared for a leg workout—and a roundtrip that will take three to four hours. Along the way, you can take in views of the Chateau Lake Louise and, when you reach the ridge, Mount Temple and the Paradise Valley. The easy way to get to the trailhead is on Roam Public Transit. That way, you can avoid the search for parking while you set off in search of adventure.
