The Skyline Trail is considered to be one of the most popular backcountry hikes in the Canadian Rockies. With more than half of the 44 km (27 mi) trail above the treeline, the views are expansive and spectacular. Most hikers choose to start from the trailhead beside Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park and trek north to the base of Signal Mountain. Hiking this challenging trail takes between two and six days. Backcountry campsites are available along the route and should be booked well in advance.
