Come "Celebrate the Way We Were" as one travels back in time at the Sundre & District Museum. This cultural destination is a three-gallery museum. The Niels Eskesen Reception Gallery tells the local history of Sundre and Area. The very unique Chester Mjolsness World of Wildlife Exhibit is amazing as it features over 170 taxidermy mounts and extends six of the world's seven continents. One will be in awe at this natural history gallery. The Pioneer Village is nestled on the museum's four acres of outdoor space located in the Riverside District of Sundre. Tour the historic buildings, have a picnic lunch or play some horseshoes in this seasonal "gallery" which is open mid-May thru mid-October. Take a peek at the memory fence and enjoy the art murals. The experience will be unforgettable no matter what time of the year. The Sundre & District Museum is supported by the volunteer efforts of the Sundre & District Historical Society. Visitors are encouraged to explore the many spaces of the Sundre & District Museum to learn, discover and create memories. Plan a minimum of one hour to tour the facilities and if traveling during the winter months it is a good idea to call ahead to ensure they are open. Sometimes they need to close to be sure their volunteers get home safely.
