Fort McMurray’s Syncrude Aquatic Centre is a local favourite and popular spot for visitors to this northern Alberta municipality. If you’re into lane swimming and diving, the facility has a 54 m (177 ft) Olympic-size swimming pool, a 25 m (82 ft.) training pool, 3 m (9.8 ft) diving board and a pair of 1 m (3.3. ft) diving boards. If relaxing poolside is your aim, you’ll enjoy the warm-up pool, steam room and sauna while your family splashes in the warm water leisure pool, whirlpools, family water park, spray park, water slides and lazy river. If you’re looking for more structured workout, come to a drop-in Aquafit class. The Syncrude Aquatic Centre just one of several amenities at MacDonald Island Park, an immense recreation, sports and events centre located near sports fields, trails and the Athabasca and Clearwater Rivers.
