More than 30 years ago, Paul and Karen Hamer had the seed of an idea for the Saskatoon Farm. It all began by planting some saskatoon berry seedlings on their land at the confluence of the Sheep and Highwood rivers, about 10.5 km (6.5 mi) northwest of Okotoks. The Hamers have green thumbs, so the seedlings grew well. As the seedlings put down roots, so did the Hamers. They added more plants and expanded the Saskatoon Farm into the attraction it is today. The farm hosts special events throughout the season (March to late December) and it's available for weddings. The Saskatoon Farm is known for its U-pick operation and farmers' market, but visitors will also find a 100-seat restaurant, a bakery, a boutique and a garden centre.
