This attraction is often-visited but has never been used—at least to our knowledge. But even if the UFO Landing Pad has never welcomed alien visitors, it has served a vital purpose for the central Alberta town of St. Paul, which is 200 km (120 mi) northeast of Edmonton. The UFO Landing Pad was built in 1967 as part of Canada’s centennial celebrations. The town’s Tourist Visitor Information Centre sits beside the landing pad. It’s a good source of local knowledge and is home to a boutique that carries the work of over 50 local artisans. It also hosts the UFO exhibit, which features photos of strange aircraft and crop circles. The centre is open from late May to early September, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Mondays. The UFO Landing Pad, of course, is always open for anyone or anything who wants to beam in.
