Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village

Step back in time at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, where costumed interpreters tell the story of Ukrainian settlers in east central Alberta—home to Canada’s oldest and once-largest Ukrainian settlement. This history helped Edmonton become the city with the largest Ukrainian-Canadian population in the country. Explore over 35 restored buildings, including Ukrainian farmhouses, schoolhouses, a blacksmith shop, grain elevator, train station, and stunning Byzantine Rite churches. Highlights include the traditional sod house, a common first home for settlers. In summer, enjoy hands-on events and workshops showcasing Alberta’s agricultural history, from grain elevators to historic farming practices.
