You won't want to miss this trail that leads to a trio of beautiful destinations in the Canadian Rockies. The Upper Hot Springs Trail leads hikers to the Upper Hot Springs pool, Rimrock Resort Hotel and the Banff Gondola. The trail winds uphill from the Spray River Trailhead, but is not too challenging. You'll travel through a mature coniferous forest that has been thinned to protect it from the risk of forest fire. The Upper Hot Springs pool will let you soak your tired muscles before heading back down the trail. Its mineral waters have healing properties that have been sought out for hundreds of years by Indigenous Peoples and those working on the railroad in the late 1800s. For a more decadent reward, hike up to the Rimrock and pop in for an excellent meal or a cocktail.
