Lace-up your skates and hit the Victoria Park IceWay. It’s the most magical way to experience Edmonton’s river valley in winter. The skating trail consists of three loops that wind through the trees. Lanterns hanging from branches alongside the ice enhance the enchanting trail. After a few minutes, you’ll forget you’re in the heart of Alberta’s capital city. The IceWay connects to the Victoria Park Oval, a well-maintained ice surface that also offers public skating. The Victoria Park Pavilion provides a warm spot to put on your skates — there are also washroom facilities, if needed. The park also has picnic sites and is popular with snowshoers and cross-country skiers. The IceWay is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily as long as the ice lasts, and there’s plenty of free parking in the area.
