Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park is a magical place that can be hard to leave. Writing-on-Stone Campground gives you the chance to extend your stay and experience more of the magic. The campground is about 130 km (80 mi) southeast of Lethbridge. It’s open year-round, but the warmer months are slightly more comfortable because the showers and flush toilets are operational. In contrast, the charms of the park are available year-round. Admire the pictographs and learn about the area’s importance to First Nations people. The campground also gives visitors easy access to the Milk River, where you can relax on the beach, take a swim or go for a float to cool down. There are 61 sites, 47 of which have power year-round. Reservations are mandatory during the high season (May to September). You can buy firewood onsite, and the water is safe to drink. Note that the showers accept loonies and toonies, so be sure to bring some cash, as there is no ATM at the campground.
