Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park is a magical place that can be hard to leave. Writing-on-Stone Campground gives you the chance to extend your stay and experience more of it. The campground is about 130 km (80 mi) southeast of Lethbridge. It is open year-round, but comfort features such as showers and flush toilets operate only in the high season. In contrast, the charms of the park are available year-round. Admire the pictographs and petroglyphs and learn about the area’s importance to First Nations people. The campground also gives visitors easy access to the Milk River, where you can relax on the beach, take a swim or go for a float to cool down. There are 61 sites, 47 of which have power year-round. Reservations are mandatory during the high season (May to September). You can buy firewood on site, and the tap water is safe to drink. Note that the showers accept loonies and toonies, so be sure to bring some cash, as there is no ATM at the campground.
