The Alberta Legislature building is one of the most iconic historic buildings in downtown Edmonton. Opened in 1912, it is a marvel of marble pillars and carved oak, beautiful Beaux-Arts architecture, and stunning grounds. The Legislature is the seat of government and centre of democracy in the province. Free tours of the Legislature are available, registration is required. The Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre is located on the main floor of the Queen Elizabeth II Building, just north of the Legislature. The Visitor Centre is home to the Borealis Gallery, Capital Gifts, Democracy Discovery Centre and Pehonan Theatre. Please visit the website for more information on hours and tour registration.
