There are hot spots, and then there’s the hottest hot spring in the Canadian Rockies. That steamy title goes to Miette Hot Springs in Jasper National Park. The natural spring water flows from the mountain at 54°C (129°F). But don’t worry—the water is cooled to a soothing 40°C (104°F) before it enters the four pools that make up this facility. Despite being the Rockies’ hottest hot spring, Miette Hot Springs is also one of Jasper’s best-kept secrets. It’s open from May to October, and rarely crowded. It’s a relaxing visit anytime, but it feels especially indulgent in the shoulder seasons when the air is cooler, making the waters feel even more luxurious. Visitors enjoy great views from the pools and from the road to Miette that winds through the Fiddle Valley. There are several hiking trails in the area, including one that will take you to the source of the springs.
