Celebrate the skills of cowboys and cowgirls at an Alberta rodeo.

The Indigenous relay race at the Calgary Stampede is all controlled chaos and uncontrolled excitement.

The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth

It’s not an overstatement. For more than 100 years, the Calgary Stampede has been packing residents and visitors alike into its Grandstand and Midway. People come from all over the world to hoot and holler and generally whoop it up.

Take in the ground-pounding rodeo action and chuckwagon races. There’s also plenty of white-knuckle excitement on the Midway with its roller coasters and Tilt-A-Whirl. There are also plenty of agricultural exhibits and competitions if you’re looking for something a little calmer.

Sit back and watch the dust fly

Alberta’s rodeos celebrate the skills cowboys and cowgirls needed on the ranch. That means roping, riding and hanging on for dear life.

Rodeos happen all summer long in big cities and small towns across the province.

The daily rodeo features bull riding, saddle broncs, barrel racing, steer wrestling and more. There’s plenty of bucking on display and big bucks are up for grabs for competitors. It all adds up to plenty of excitement for spectators.
